And now we are feeling alienated and abandoned because labels are afraid to invest in our of type music so we are forced to listen to Hurricane Chris and Lil Vic or whatever his name is, shit that 10 year olds like. So basically black kids need to respect their elders and honor the history of their culture and have understanding about what it is they are listening to and for Pete's fuckin sakes read and do some research on things. I remember growing up in the 80's and 90's the white kids in my school would be rocking Pink Floyd and AC/DC shirts groups who were making music in the late 60's and 70's but they had the utmost respect for these artists and STILL DO. It is not uncommon to see an under 18 white kid rockin an AC/DC or Kiss shirt and are actually fans of the music can teell you the history and discography of these bands. And I wont even speak on The Beatles. We need to respect our culture in that fashion. Every black kid should know the history of James Brown, Parliament/Funkadelics, they should know Rakim, they should know Big Daddy KAne, they should know Illmatic, they should know 36 Chambers, they should know Midnight Merauders...this is important information that is necessary. But the reality is this- they dont know!! But I bet if you asked any white kid about ANY of those artists or albums they could tell you at least 1 thing about them all, I'd put my lunch money on it.
