Longshot Wins Jake One Contest

You may remember a few days ago when I did a post about Longshot making the finals for Rhymesayers Jake One contest.  The contestant who could rip an instrumental from Jake's White Van Music the best, would win a beat from Jake, a session with Jake and a single deal with Rhymesayers.  Well, the good news is Chicago emcee Longshot smashed the competition, and won the battle.  He wanted to thank all of the FSD readers who took time out of their day to vote for him:

What up Chicago and FSD, it's Longshot and if you don't know already I was the winner in the Rhymesayers/Jake One single deal contest and I jus wanted to extend my a sincere and humble thank you to the whole city of Chicago and all who voted and much gratitude for FSD for posting the link and supporting...This is a big opportunity for me and it's extra special knowing I have my city backing me the whole rip... I did the song wit Pugs: "Please don't call us Haterville!" Thank you all again...I will never let ya'll down!! Much respect 2 all Chicago artists doing they thang, and please keep supporting good music...Shot

ps- I'm recording my first live album with a six piece band behind me this Wed. Nov.26th @Morseland 1218 Morse $5...holla

A big congrats to Longshot for his hard work.

I would just like to add that after reading all of this tomfoolery that went down at last nights "Dirty Awards" in Atlanta with Jeezy vs. La The Darkman and TI vs. Shawty Lo...

Everyone that says that the South is more united than Chicago and we're always fighting here, yadda, yadda, ya....Do you really think altercations would break out like this if we had a Chicago awards cermeony?

Naw......unfortunately we shoot first so it would have been even more the embarrassing. I can say that its getting better......it just ain't where it need to be yet. We gettin there though. Our new generation of artists are the shit and are promoting unity.Like I said, we ain't where we need to be yet but we are definitely gettin there. Looks like the ATL is dealing with a similar problem in the fact that there more popular/established artists(and camps) are beefing with the up and comers.

Congrats to Longshot....and Drew I don't think we would have a problem like that...if you look now there isn't any real beef going on with rappers from here....the only backlash you really here is about Berg and we don't see dude here....I think this new wave of artists all see that there is a bigger picture at hand here...we will go nowhere if we aren't unified...i see things turning around....we are always gonna have our random hate but for the most part I think we will be fine if we continue on the path we are trotting on....

Congrats to Longshot. I met him here in Columbus when he performed w/ Jean Grae. Sacrifice was a solid joint.
