Enstrumental & Eschmitte's "New Chicago" Tee

Some* of the “New Chicago” all-stars pop up on Enstrumental & Eschmitte’s summertime collabo tee. You can it up at various locations around the city (not 100&% sure where).

Can’t someone send me one of these? I mean, I am a supporter…

And what’s up with the Fake Shore Drive tee? I need to get those done.

Honor that.

hahaha - I posted this on my blog and on facebook a few days ago and the reaction has been MIXED to say the least.

certain crowds love it....... and the excitement has remained pretty contained.

But FSD Readers, for the most part, aren't in those crowds... if it's catchy or (even vaguely) successful, they probably don't want to hear it.

i got mine for free 4 doing the promo, so I'm rockin it. Call me what you will......

Anonymous said...

That T-shirt fucking sucks!

Anonymous said...

Becca thats not true if its catchy or successful...youre just in that crowd so of course youd support it lmao...dont play ya self kid

i jus think these dudes is wack...sorry to be honest...but they dont speak for me

Anonymous said...

skooda chose is the future of CHICAGP RAP!!!

Anonymous said...

exactly what defines catchy or successful and how does that apply to this arguement?

i'm sorry this statement actually baffles me and i'm trying to find the relation between the subject at hand and the defensive phrase given by becca?

Anonymous said...

becca you can't rock all free shit. just because it's free doesn't make it hot. this shirt is at it's best is average and the concept is overdone. i like enstrumental they make nice shirts with a message. with this they are using something that has been done by several other brands. that make this shirt unrockable.

becca don't say shit is dope because you get it for free. there is some kid out here who thinks this is fresh because someone else says so. that other person didn't pay for it but the kid can't get it for free and he's following someone else's lead. this shirt should be free to everyone who supports these artists and dj.

that means you andrew!!!

Anonymous said...

if kidz in the hall was at the top minus timbuck!! mayb i'd cop it!!

Becca the Promo Mami said...

I get what ppl are saying about blindly following trends....

I know if they sell it in leaders, there are mindless minions who will buy it no matter what it is.

When I wrote about it on my blog I said "it's got the names of all the hometown heroes you're sweating on it... so you'll buy it because your brain will be too scrambled not to...."

so i'll take it all with a grain of salt... I don't take myself that seriously to get heated over this.... hell, I'm not even on the tee lol.

Anonymous said...

becca completely dodged the first question so i'll ask another that baffles me even more...

since when did those people become our "hometown HEROES"??!!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

Becca the Promo Mami said...

my phrase was sarcastic... I do support and ENJOY their music, but I understand the HYPE that surrounds them as well...

about the first question, if you took it defensively, that's not the way I meant it. I was saying that this shirt will appeal to a certain group of people and others will utterly despise it. I know that for the most part (since I read this blog almost every day and read all the comments about the artists on this shirt) that the target crowd is not the crowd that reads FSD.

and with that, i'm done.... if you want to continue this convo, PLEASE come post on my blog because I don't get any comments lol.

ITS GREAT TO SEE CHICAGO BRAND SUPPORT THESE ARTIST FROM THE CITY, BUT I DISLIKE THE FACT THAT IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE HIP HOP TALENT FROM LATIN HIP HOP ARTIST FROM THE CITY AS WELL SUCH AS ACE MAC, CHI-ILL, DJ WREK & O-ZONE AND 108. I NOTICED THAT FAKE SHORE DRIVE DOES NOT SHOW AS MANY HISPANIC HIP HOP ARTIST FROM THE CITY AS IT DOES OF THOSE OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN ETHNIC BACKGROUND.

Ain't no need to be doin your homework on some guys that ain't even in that lane anyway. You hooligans need to lay off a little. No these guys ain't bussin they gun and no they probably ain't never had no so called STREET CRED but does it fuckin matter if they ain't claimin that anyway?!?!?!?
Grow the fuck up and keep it musical.

Andrew Barber said...

I support all of these artists on the shirt as well as many others who aren't. There is enough room for everyone to eat and see success here. I get it if you don't like the music, but show support to your local talent!

Like Naledge says, if we all work together, positively, then maybe one day we'll be able to have a full-functioning industry here in Chicago, where some of us would be able to have music industry jobs and labels here as opposed to having to move to LA, ATL or NYC.

Chicago is the third biggest city in America! There is no reason we should have to leave to get a deal! We need to start being independent and starting our own labels, and putting our own people on. Fuck it. Fake Shore Drive Records, sign on the dotted line.

And whoever said that I discriminate what I post based on race - that's just fucking RETARDED! You have to be kidding me? I'd post a song from a Lion from the Chicago Zoo if it was bangin'. Go somewhere - (C) Devin the Dude.

But you want to discredit something coming from chicago?

First off, all that "I'mma hate for that sake of hatin'" is GAY! And niggas wonder why artists leave Chicago and go somewhere else to get on. In every other city and region EXCEPT Chicago, niggas support each other to build the strength of their city. But naw, not here. Here we see niggas makin' moves and gettin' a decent buzz and say "fuck that nigga he weak". Why? I don't know. Niggas get on yo grind and make it happen for yourself instead of hatin' on the next man. Love to all the supporters and I'mma pray for the lames that hate cause it ain't them. God don't like ugly and ya'll nigga is UGLY. Oh, and blog thuggin' is also gay.

A Real Man on this Forum For Once said...

Hey I hear what everyone is saying and all, but let me explain something to you people...nobody is really hating on you all they are simply expressing disdain (look that word up). See "hating" would be to talk negatively because they are jealous of you and want to be in your shoes, I really dont think people are jealous of any of these people because they havent done anything worth being jealous of. See people hate when someone has more money, or a girl that they find attractive, or a better house, lol!! Not a name on a t-shirt. In this situation people are not jealous they simply see a shirt that says Chicago and on the back there are a bunch of artists that they feel have not done enough to truly represent this city, which is understandable. I mean imagine if you seen a basketball shirt that said Chicago hoops and on the back it had Derrick Rose, Reggie Theus, Eddie Curry, Kirk Hinrich, Orlando Woolridge you would fuckin flip, even though these players are good players and are credible, you would feel a little cheated because you know better. Thats not hating; you are pissed because you are proud of Chicago and somebody had the fuckin nereve to make a shirt that misrepresents and undermines the contributions of the cats in YOUR CITY who really deserve the accolades like Michael Jordan, Quinten Richardson, Isaiah Thomas (from Chi-Town originally,) Scotty Pippen, Garnette cats who deserve to be a representative of what Chicago Hoops is all about. Not everyone who visits this site are musicians, there are people on here like myself who are simply FANS.....HELLO remember us?? All of the claims and cries (especially Mano's) are pure delusional, lol. Chicago breeds delusions of grandeur I swear it does, you people really think you matter lol, but on a large scale nobody outside of Chicago gives a fuck about you, they may know of you but trust me they dont give a shit. And as far as all of that tough talk about niggas having record deals, dont make me laugh....you can have a deal but it doesnt mean shit especially in this climate where niggas is getting dropped like flies and record sales are at an all time low.....hell Stat Quo got a deal, Joell Ortiz had a deal with Aftermath, Stimuli got a deal....but them niggas will never drop a record, GLC has been signed since fuckin 2003, he doesnt even have a release date. So like somebody said before niggas are ALL HYPE because their aint no REAL money being made besides Kanye and maybe Lupe. Go back to school you niggas and get a job!!!

Music is music and a shirt is a shirt. This is sad that we are hating on folks who are obviously grinding b/c we aren't their fans. It's a million folks who are wack to me but get homage from other folks and how can we hate them for their grind. That's why it's every individuals responsibility to themselves to stay true to what they represent and grind until it grows. This is an embarrassment to the city. We all love mild sauce so we need to unify in order to build an industry or even a strong network in this city. Big up to anybody who is working hard and grinding to accomplish their dreams in a constructive way and not poisoning our people. Blessings abundant to you all.

Unbelievable. All of this over a t-shirt. I respect every artist on this tee. I may not like all of there music, but i know who they r and have seen them perform or know enough of there material 2 comment and the 1 thing I can say is that they all have a style, a hustle, a grind, and a following. Thats what makes hip hop great when u have a variety. This is exactly whats wrong with hip hop now. Nobody wants 2 step out of the box and try sumthin different and when some1 does then u get a bunch of stupid muthafuckas hatin on them. Its killin the indusrty and the culture. I dont think hip hop is dead or dying by any means. Ive been a fan of hip hop 4 over 20 years and Ive seen hip hop change 4 the good and bad. Im not 1 of these old school niggas who just hates on new shit just cause it doesnt sound like the shit i grew up on (88 to 98 Best Hip Hop Decade if u ask me, but Who asked me anyway? Lol) but i will say this if u live and breath this culture and u know the history of this culture and respect this culture it can grow in2 a beautiful thing in this City if not then this City will never make it and we will c artist continue 2 leave and rep this city from afar. 1 last comment 2 every1 on the tee and every1 who didnt make it on the tee keep doin u and dont change your style or give up your artistic integrity 2 appeal 2 industry standards. We need change and i think every1 of u brings sumthin different 2 this City and Culture. One- Im Out

it's so sad yo.. this is the reason why chicago is such a joke in so many people's eyes across the country: this city is full of fuckin haters! instead of complaining about who you love who happens to be missing from the shirt, just be happy for the ones who made it on there. the shirt merely says "Chicago." it doesn't say "this is a comprehensive list of any and everyone from the Chi who is dope and anyone we left out is wack as hell."

Fuck it Im just flat out say how I feel about everything going on in Chicago... Im sick of this is bullshit....In my opinion Chicagoans have a "follow the leader" mentality a lot of bitchassness as Puff would say... you got certain cats who have leverage and access to shit and they act like they hit the jackpot and the reason why they have access is because a lot of them are willing to be treated like punks and bitches and do a lot of ass kissing...whether it be Lupe's or Kanye's ass. They do enough ass kissing and they are "connected" its like once you are in certain "inner circles" in Chicago you can maneuver yourself and the funny thing is- once these cats get inside these little circles they start feeling and acting like they are important mainly because opportunities are so scarce in this city that they feel like they actually accomplished "something" and thats when the egos start getting HUGE....3/4 of these "inner circle" cats are not even truly talented. Out of all of the people on that shirt I would say maybe 1 or 2 names are actually truly talented- and that would be Cool Kids and Timbuk2. The rest of these niggas are a result of hype and dick riding..All of these niggas walk around like they are really on top of the world believing their own hype and shit...if you think Im hating then so what. I dont care because I support REAL talent not half ass talented niggas with promotional schemes, gimmicks, a bunch of followers and a hyped up name....everything is not good. Real talent gets my vote, Juice, Vakill, Rhymefest, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Twista, Molemen cats who have consistently put in work and have TALENT and built their name off of hood and hip-hop approval.....not the approval of hipsters from the burbs (that to me is cheating) who dont even care about good music they just want to get high and party. The communities that really matter do not fuck with those cats. Maybe the hipsters and wannabe hipsters do, but they dont speak for the rest of us. Take it how you wanna take it Im out!!

Man most of you people are ignorant. I mean that in its literal definition, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SPEAKING OF. I dont know Lupe, Kanye, Twista, Common, or ANY of the other superstars from Chicago. I'm NOT in their circles therefore am not DICK RIDING ANYONE for position. EVERYTHING that IVY LEAGUE has accomplished we did it on OUR OWN MERIT. If you are a fan/supporter of someone who is not on the shirt you can:

A. make your own
B. wait for the next 1 and see if your peeps make it
C. become a BETTER fan so your cat gets more shine
D. etc...

And when you talking about REAL talent you should KNOW what your talking about. Because alot of these people you speak of with REAL talent FULLY honor almost everyone on this shirt! I don't even mind the hating. What I have a problem with is all he "these cats aint gangster, they should be robbed" type talking. Thats taking it too far. And dont let images fool you. Because EVERYONE that knows me KNOWS that if its a problem, it can be a PROBLEM. No disrespect at all to hipsters cause I rocks with the cats on the shirt HEAVY. Ill Will said...

"GOD DAMN SWEATSHOP ASS MADE IN CHINA I MEAN AMERICA ASS T-SHIRT?!?!?"

Man its not the fact that its a t-shirt.....the t-shirt just really was "the straw that broke the camels back" it opened the door to shit that a lot of people have been thinking about but just kept their mouth shut. Its simply that those names on that shirt are niggas who have a lot of press, hype and a following....but nobody really knows why??? LMAO, I mean I'm still puzzled why...other than Cool Kids, its obvious why they are decent- they actually are interesting and make good music for the most part!

Andrew/Fake Shore Drive is a blessing in disguise because it gives us all an opportunity to really voice how we feel and have been feeling about our music community...and no its not all hating, its about progression; we have to call out the bullshit as it appears, we cant be afraid to speak our opinion. And its not healthy to hold back our tongue and does us ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD to support and pretend to like some shit just for the sake of supporting!!! What if every time you told your kid to do his homework and turn off the tv he turned around and called you a hater for going against him and you stopped parenting...the little nigga would end up a horrible studednt and would never graduate 8th grade. And to me thats how niggas sound on this site, they act like nobody can say ANYTHING about the shit that they put out into the world.....the people are speaking loud and clear and they are saying that they are NOT HAPPY WITH THIS...you can not fight that....so now you niggas wanna George Bush us and steal the election even though we have not voted for you........I KNOW the shirt is bullshit and I see right through it, and I know what they are TRYING to do. The only ones benefitting from the shirt are the weak links and the chain of the shirt. I mean really... you dont see Cool Kids on this forum bitchin about it, because they already blew they are SECURE in the fact that they are talented because if they werent they wouldnt have gotten this far, Kids in The Hall are already poppin so they dont give a fuck they arent coming to this sight trying to defend it; hell they probably dont even know that the shirt exists. But you do see Mano throwing a 5 paragraph tantrum and Ivey League...all here to defend their position...why do they feel the need to defend themselves...sounds a little insecure to me....but hey who am I other than another Chicago "hater" right. I mean hey if my homeboy had a t-shirt company and I was a rapper I would make sure I had about 5 different shirt designs with my name so...at the end of the day its all business and I must admit that was one hell of a marketing/promotional move, but the real problem lies in what it is that you are actually promoting....thats where
we separate truth from hype.....can the people actually deliver....and I've heard music from every last one of these people on that shirt and I'm gonna keep it 100 with y'all I AM NOT IMPRESSED. Like I said before I think out all of them- Cool Kids are probably the actual truth. And thats just my humble opinion. Niggas may not like it but shit Im a man at the end of the day, I mean these niggas might be the coolest niggas on earth and may even be great people but if they are on some bullshit they are on some bullshit.

MAN FAWK A PROLYFIC, CAN YOU RAP? DO YOU MAKE BEATS!? Oh, I forgot, that remix of Usher's "Love In The Club" was pretty dope LOL

Seriously, the success of our city is so much bigger than this shirt that was made by ONE person who honors THESE acts...

Why can't "WE" respect a good song/artist for what it is, and not talk down about it without really listening or understanding it's purpose. . . I'M NOT A HIPSTER NOR AM I A DOPE BOY.... I am a product of the 90's hip hop scene, a backpacker that has under gone a maturization process with real grown man problems...

I'm not a fan of The Cool Kids, nor am I a fan of Twista, but I LIKE Black Mags and I LIKE Adrenaline Rush.... 2 different songs, 2 different sides of the spectrum, both dominated its target audience

I just want the consumers, music lovers, people that pay attention to look at music OBJECTIVELY and not SUBJECTIVELY, and be that person to say "I don't fuc wit them, but that's a good song"... Cause, I do it every day of my life...

However, I definitely agree that there is a lot of dick riding that goes on in this city, and if you don't comply then you're the outkast, but NO ONE can take away your creativity... This is a game where you're only as big as your next hit - here today and gone tommorrow!!! Yeah, so let's see where we'll be in 365 days...

And, Tim is not the only relevant person on the shirt. . . . Cause I'm on there!!!

the League isn't defending itself about being called wack. . . that's fine; some people like it and some don't... i think the defense comes into play when people try to down grade how hard you/we work for our press and recognition, which is national...

I don't think it's hatin, I truly believe that some niggaz just don't fuc with the music, but realize that some people do fuc wit the music...

and, i absolutely love this forum cause i think it can make people see both sides...

^^^ you just proved my point with this statement. back in my OLD DAY it was a balance of fashion and skills with skills being the priority.

unlike today....

today skills have been "replaced" by "swag" a word in which i completely utterly passionately deep rootedly HATE!!! and you whilst you can discredit a person skills before.. now you CANNOT hate on a person "swag" (eww gross) today.
For the record i really HATE that word.

Anonymous said...

the shirts is hot but what about BEN-SITY?

ET said...

I know this is old as hell but i just saw it so...

On a much simpler note. These guys are the newest additions to Chicago's talent that are marketable to the masses and able to bring good tidings to the city with what they promote. no doubt there are other artists that got they lyrical content and wordplay and all that jumbo down much better, but on the scale of what people want to here and revolve in their ears, it is something on the level of what they are offering. They have their own style and original flavor and are moving with the times. So all that other they aint real talk cause they not representing me and all that can die. At one point they were saying that shit about yo weak ass. It's full circle, you'll get your chance and the next person and so on when people are ready for that. So let it ride they got a voice in the city obviously since they got this big following, and everything in our city needs to get it shine and come to the light without limits regardless of what it is. Niggas abroad and within the city already know about how gangsta we are and dirty and grimey and how we'll rob you and kill you and gangbang on you, nigga fuck that. Mufuckas did that already, THEY did that already, let's move on, yea we are the hardest city and....
Yall know nothing of their backgrounds to say certain things too. In the scheme of hip hop these niggas have been doing it since little, repping ALL 4 elements which is the base of all this rap shit if you want to get down to the real stuff that niggas is emulating. People like them created paths for gangstas to speak on and every other person that feels their voice needs input upon the masses. And it nothing to run up on anyone and put a banger to they head that's ABC shit, shorties is doing that. People cant make a song and get pub from it though and that's really why niggas is hatin. This is a business goofies, lol this aint the street, regardless in the end all it will be the one who is doing the ass kissing or what you think is ass kissing to get where they got to go. Get on top of your marketing skills and study your craft like how they have. Funny shit, niggas just mad cause niggas doing what they want to do and getting by doing it. And you got to box yourself in and FOLLOW.

Anonymous said...

Didn't Common say "If I don't like it, I don't like it. That don't mean I'm hating"?

The haters point in this is that a bunch of hipster artists (predominately white fan base, beloved on blogs, high hype, low product) are listed on a T-shirt. We don't have anyone else in the Go who should be on a T. I'm sure having Bump J's name on a shirt would be some sort of violation of parole. (That's a joke for you slow reading cats).

Mano's point is as Thugnificient so eloquently put it "Stop hating get money, my nigga!" Your hustle game is impressive but someone earlier mentioned that this site should be used as a forum for people to call bullshit on people who either they support or are representing at home and abroad. Some cats don't want their local heros wearing skinny jeans and hanging out with Carson Daly and other trendfuckers.

So who's right? Some of y'all are being mad hypocritical. Success (triumph over your own expectations) brings about new people and experiences. First time I got some bread I moved to London. Now every year I leave the country for a month or two every year bringing back new fashion, new slang, new culture, new contacts. Some get it, some don't, some love, some hate. Y'all need to stop acting like y'all would still be starching your jeans up and wearing watches in your hat if you lived in Japan.

I can feel the outrage about the shirt because I've seen cats like Molemen and Sharkula (yeah I know that nigga's wack) hustling since I was knee high to a duck and get nothing when the Cool Kids seemingly roll out of bed and are well, the Cool Kids. But that's life, the Cool Kids and Nigel are infinitely more marketable than the aforementioned and in music, business and life that's the way things go. You wanna see your mans and them on a T-shirt go buy (with money) his album, pay (some more money) to get into his show, put up some fliers for him and tell your friends. Blog/hipster love alone can't do it. It starts with you.
