Ghostface Killah's, The Big Doe Rehab Album Listening Party
Chicago, IL
Alive One
Sunday, December 9, 2007
How do you get people to show up to an album listening party when the featured artist isn’t even in attendance? You press up 40 limited edition, super exclusive t-shirts that set the internet ablaze, that’s how. The brainchild of Rob Greco from Def Jam, Krabby from sneaker boutique/streetwear company St. Alfred as well as Flip The Bird, who designed one of the years best promotional shirts – one that people were willing to show up and wait for on a cold, rainy Chicago winter night. Wu heads and sneaker addicts all over the city were willing to do whatever it took to get their hands on one of these gems. Attendees were literally foaming at the mouth, and it even looked as if a fight was going to breakout if certain people didn’t get their grubby hands on one. The shirts created even a bigger frenzy than the GZA/Alife limited edition ‘Liquid Swords’ T’s from Pitchfork. Go figure.
When the guests arrived they were greeted with Big Doe Rehab labeled prescription bottles with a raffle ticket stuffed inside. I mean, I guess they had to make the distribution of shirts as fair as possible, right?
The DJ spun classic Wu-Tang records all night, while flawlessly mixing in tracks from the Big Doe Rehab. Guests included the crew from St. Alfred, Shala Esquire of Qualo, Mica from Don’t Be Chi, DJ Marco Morales, DJ Word and the boys from Perseverer .
The Big Doe Rehab is in stores now.
(A big shout to Rob with Def Jam and Krabby with St. Alfred)
